The Sons of Italy Lodge 2456 established the Frances DiMercurio Memorial Scholarship in memory of a special woman who played an integral role in the Lodge’s early success. As the wife of the Lodge’s first president, John DiMercurio, First Lady Frances, better known as Fran, always supported Lodge activities.
Married for 41 years, Fran and John raised three children. She graduated from St. Joseph High School, Saginaw, in 1955 and retired from Ameritech after 31 years.
Fran’s commitment to community activities was not limited to the Lodge. She was also an active member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, its Altar Society and the League of Catholic Women.
