BEFORE YOU BEGIN
It’s important to read the following before you begin your application. If you have additional questions, review our frequently asked questions or call the foundation at (989) 755-0545.
- You will need to provide the email address and full name of reference who is unrelated to you within the application. Be certain to ask them to be a reference for you before you submit your application. The reference will answer a series of questions regarding your academics, achievements, and/or character. They should also be able to provide an example to support their responses. Some scholarships require recommendations from specific persons. See the individual scholarship descriptions within the application for more information.
- Obtain a copy of your most recent school transcript to upload with your application. Official paid transcripts are NOT required or necessary. A student copy of current college transcripts is acceptable for college students. Your transcript is different than your report card. High school seniors: you must upload transcripts that include the first semester/trimester of your senior year.
- For the 2023-2024 application, the SAI (Student Aid Index) from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will not be required to consider your financial need. For consideration, please refer to the financial questionnaire within the application. Please keep in mind that the FAFSA is required to receive any source of federal aid (including Pell, Grant, Tip, Michigan Achievement, or Student Loans).
- All applicants must complete the scholarship essay questionnaire within the application. There are seven questions regarding your educational and career goals, as well as, your experiences in the community or at home. Each question will require at least 150 characters. This is questionnaire is a significant factor in your overall score, be sure to give it careful thought and editing. You may copy and paste your essay from another program such as Microsoft Word.
- Include any required special attachments or membership verification information. See the special scholarship pages within the application form for more specific information. (Special attachments are listed on the participation-based, memberships, and additional scholarship pages within the application).
- Be certain to answer all questions on the application with an asterisk (*). This information is required.
- Applications for 2025 will begin being accepted on November 1, 2024 and must be submitted online by February 7, 2025. Be sure your application is complete before submitting your application on the submission page.
