When Jerry L. Seese retired as superintendent of Saginaw Township Public Schools at the end of the 2011/2012 academic year, he had been involved in education for 47 years. His educational roles include science and health teacher, multi-sport coach, athletic director, counselor, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent. The highlights of his tenure include implementing the International Baccalaureate Program at Heritage High School, applying for the Middle Years Programme and implementing the Math in Focus® program. Other highlights are reorganizing the district and keeping the district financially sound.
This scholarship was created by the Saginaw Township School Board members to assist students graduating from Heritage High School pursue a career in education.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
- Graduating senior from Heritage High School
- Pursuing an undergraduate degree in education (any level) or educational administrative degree
- Full-time enrollment at a Michigan college or university
