Great Lakes Bay Pride Scholarship

Great Lakes Bay Pride (previously known as Perceptions) was formed in 2002 to provide sexual orientation and gender identity and expression (SOGIE) education, advocacy, networking, and resources to individuals and organizations in the Great Lakes Bay Region. Together, with countless allies, the organization envisions a community that inspires engagement, equality, and respect for all.

This scholarship will be awarded to a Michigan resident who has demonstrated a passion for promoting mutual respect and acceptance across borders of race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Resident of Michigan
  • High school senior, college student or non-traditional student
  • Pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree or Career and Technical Education (CTE) training
  • Demonstrated a commitment to promoting respect and acceptance of diversity across all borders including race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression.
  • Volunteer work in the LGBTQ+ community
  • Part- or full-time enrollment

Evaluation Criteria

  • Special essay (50)
  • Community service (20)
  • Leadership (15)
  • Career goals as demonstrated in essay (15)
