Grant Programs

The Saginaw Community Foundation offers several competitive grant programs. In 2011, a total of $168,021.18 was granted to 23 projects and programs through its unrestricted grants. An additional $21,549 was granted to nine projects and programs through the YWCA Fund for Women and Girls. FORCE, the youth advisory committee granted $23,690 to programs and projects affecting children and teens in Saginaw. Thousands of other dollars were granted through other funds at the foundation.

 

Applicants must contact Kendra Kempf at the Saginaw Community Foundation at (989) 755-0545 prior to submitting an application to determine eligibility and to receive a grant number.

●  Designed to meet the needs of a wide variety of nonprofit organizations

●  Typical maximum grant is $10,000

●  Typical award is $2,500

●  Priority is placed on projects that include youth in the planning and implementation; empower youth and increase their awareness of community issues; and are first-time funding requests.

●  Maximum grant is $5,000

●  For programs supporting charitable purposes that benefit the elderly in Saginaw County

●  Priority is placed on programs and projects that enhance the quality of life for those seniors maintaining an independent residence

●  Awarded annually for a project that will create indelible, measurable impacts in the immediate and broader community

●  Only one project/organization may receive this $25,000 grant

● Creates an opportunity for elementary, middle school and high school groups, sports teams and service clubs in the Great Lakes Bay Region to earn funding for priority projects through volunteerism

● Accomplished through the giving of grants to K-12 age groups that complete a preapproved community volunteer activity and meet grant requirements
