This scholarship is established in loving memory of Frank Batkoski, a dedicated and hardworking sheet metal worker, or as he proudly referred to himself, a “tin knocker”. After graduating from high school, Frank served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman (MP), demonstrating his sense of duty and discipline. Upon returning home, hebegan his career as an apprentice at Baker Perkins in Saginaw, Mich., where he honed his craft over 32 years, working his way up to journeyman and foreman/supervisor status.
Baker Perkins, a local manufacturer of bakery equipment, was where Frank’s love for working with his hands and sharp mathematical mind truly shined. He took great pride in his work and approached each task with dedication – never once being late and felt that being on time meant arriving 15 minutes early. His strong work ethic and commitment toexcellence were hallmarks of his career. He rarely missed a day of work throughout his 32 years of service.
Outside of his trade, Frank was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, and he was a faithful Christianwho cherished his family deeply. His life served as an inspiring example of dedication, craftsmanship and perseverance.
The Batkoski Family Scholarship aims to honor Frank’s legacy by supporting students pursuing Career and Technical Education (CTE) and encouraging them to follow in his footsteps of hard work, passion for craftsmanship and commitment to excellence.
