2012 Annual Report:
Bringing Community Initiatives to Life

2012 Annual Report

At the beginning of a new year, the Saginaw Community Foundation (SCF) staff and Board of Directors reflect upon the previous year’s highlights and major accomplishments. We are always amazed at how much we are able to accomplish in a year, and in 2012 there was an area of focus that really stood out: assisting organizations and volunteers with various community initiatives throughout Saginaw County. This was not a new activity for SCF, but the number of opportunities was greater than normal. This was definitely a positive sign that SCF is recognized not only as an administrator of financial resources, but also as a fiscal agent for other community improvement initiatives. In the following pages you will read about some of them.

One particular project we spent a great deal of time on, thanks to Consumers Energy, was bringing new life to Deindorfer Woods. If it weren’t for Consumers requesting our assistance to help identify a project that the company could invest in to honor its 125th anniversary, we could have missed out on an amazing collaborative opportunity, and that’s exactly what it was.

To express our interests and intentions to be more involved with community improvement projects, we announced at the 2012 Annual Celebration that SCF would kick off a new initiative in 2013 that would annually award up to $30,000 to a broad-scoped community improvement program. This activity would allow us to be more proactive and provide us with the opportunity to collaborate with community and funding partners.

SCF is proud to serve the Saginaw County community. If you are interested in learning more about the foundation and how we can work together, contact the foundation at (989) 755-0545 or via email at info@saginawfoundation.org.
