Since 2005, two Saginaw natives have been teaming up to support a very important cause: youth recreation in Saginaw.
Clifton Ryan, IV and LaMarr Woodley – high school, collegiate and professional football rivals – credit much of their success to the youth recreation programs that were available to them growing up. These programs were instrumental in keeping Clifton and LaMarr off the streets and on the right track to academic and athletic success. Clifton and LaMarr want nothing less for today’s youth. That’s why they established Heroes for Kids.
Heroes for Kids has allowed the length of existing youth recreation programs to be extended each summer. Without this support, these programs would be forced to shorten their hours and days of operation or simply not exist.
Grants available
Heroes for Kids accepts grant applications once each year (due by Feb. 1) to support summer youth programming and recreation for children residing in the City of Saginaw. Grant amounts generally vary between $1,000-$5,000. Before starting an application, please email Kendra Kempf at the Saginaw Community Foundation or call (989) 755-0545 to determine eligibility and to receive an application and grant number.
